Father to Son: TheStory in the Blood
From Emperor to Monarch; from Kitasan Black to Equinox. A pedigree is a book that runs across generations.
Tokai Teio came from Symboli Rudolf’s first crop. The father won the 1984 Triple Crown unbeaten; the son won the 1991 Satsuki Sho and Tokyo Yushun.
Three generations of Tenno Sho
Mejiro McQueen followed his grandsire Mejiro Asama and his sire Mejiro Titan as a Tenno Sho winner — the first three-generation sequence in the race’s history.
His name returns in the next generation as a damsire. Orfevre and Gold Ship are both by Stay Gold out of mares by Mejiro McQueen.

Kitasan Black and Equinox
Kitasan Black was Horse of the Year in 2016 and 2017. His son Equinox was Horse of the Year in 2022 and 2023, and in 2023 the World’s Best Racehorse.
